BirthRite Birthing Seat

This comfortable seat is designed specifically to promote mobility during labour and upright positions for birth. It is beautifully designed and has been used with great success in Australia for some time. An information DVD is also available. See the BirthRite website for more information and images of the stool being used.
Valley Cushion

This cushion has been designed to reduce pain and discomfort in the days after birth for those who have had more complicated births, such as forceps deliveries, ventouse deliveries or sustained damage to the perineal tissues. Find out more here.
Tens Machine

Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulation (“TENS”) machines use four pads placed on the mother’s lower and mid back to create electrical pulses that are thought to partially block pain signals from reaching the brain. It may also assist with the production of endorphins, the body’s own “feel good” chemicals. Applied at the early stages of labour, some women find these effective as pain relief. If you want to soak in a nice hot bath or use a birthing pool, this electrical equipment needs to be removed first!
